Recycled Content

As part of our commitment to sustainability, NDS utilizes recycled resin in the majority of the products we manufacture. In 2009, recycled resin accounted for the following proportions of plastic used in production in Lindsay, CA:

• 75.0% of all High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
• 85.1% of all Polypropylene (PP)
• 76.5% of all High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)

In total, 61% of all plastic consumed by NDS in 2009 was recycled, or over 12 million lbs of recycled plastic.

Product lines incorporating recycled content include Permeable Pavers, Flo-Well, Catch Basins & Grates, Valve and Meter Boxes, and Channel Drains.

Q. Which NDS products are made from recycled materials?

A. With the exception of Dura Slope Trench Drain and our PVC fittings, the vast majority of all other products are manufactured from recycled materials. Please check this table to look up a product by part number.

Q. Why does it matter if a product is made from recycled materials?

A. In addition to being better for the environment by reducing the amount of waste generated, products containing recycled content can help a project gain LEED credits, under credit 4.1 and 4.2 of the Materials and Resources Category of LEED v3.
