NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System): Part of the Clean Water Act that prohibits the discharge of any pollutant to waters of the United States from a point source unless authorized by a NPDES permit. This means that pollutants are not allowed to go down a storm drain, even during construction.

NDS offers several easy and effective Best Management Practices (BMPs) that help contractors comply with NPDES regulations. The Drain Inlet Product Line prevents sediment and debris from entering a storm drain. The Flo-Well storm water leaching system retains water and discharges it into the subsoil. And grassroad pavers are used to plant turf that can be driven over, which allows grass to grow where otherwise an impervious surface would have to be installed.
