The 12 in. Pro Series Channel Drain Grate, made of ductile iron, will rust over time, forming a protective iron-oxide patina that begins red-orange & ages to a deep, rich brown. NDS iron grates are lightly painted black to inhibit rust formation for shipping & storage purposes only.
