Save Water by Converting Lawn Sprinklers to Drip Irrigation

Flooded patio

The demand for efficient irrigation solutions is on the rise, fueled by factors such as water shortages and drought conditions. One method that’s taking the lead and steadily growing in popularity is sprinkler to drip conversion.

Why switch to drip?

A drip irrigation system can help reduce water usage by up to 70% compared to conventional sprinkler irrigation. Your customers will spend less on water, which means more money back in their pockets.

Works with existing sprinkler systems

If your customers already have an existing pop-up sprinkler system, converting it into a drip irrigation system is easier than you think. NDS® Universal Pop-up Conversion Kits can replace all major manufacturers’ spray heads.

How to install

The conversion kits can be installed in just a few minutes and are designed to sit optimally at grade level—unlike some competitor products that jut up to three inches above grade, posing a safety hazard, not to mention an eyesore. Follow these four steps:

Converting sprinklers to drip, step 1 - locate the sprinkler head to convert

STEP 1:

Locate the sprinkler head you want to convert.

Converting sprinklers to drip, step 2 - replace the sprinkler head with the conversion cannister

STEP 2:

Replace the existing spray head with the conversion canister.

Converting sprinklers to drip, step 3 - connect the adapter

STEP 3:

Connect the adapter. The bi-directional adapter creates a T-configuration from a single water connection, giving you the ability to go in two directions from a single unit to cover larger areas.

Converting sprinklers to drip, step 4 - connect the drip tubing

STEP 4:

Connect the supply tubing over the fitting. If you don’t need to use the second outlet, close it with an end cap.

The result is an aesthetically pleasing landscape that allows for more flexibility in selecting the location of the water source for a drip system.

What’s included in the kit

The Universal Pop-Up Conversion Kit consists of a conversion canister featuring a 30 PSI filter regulator and 150-mesh screen filter, adapter with locking collar and two Smart Loc™ universal swivel outlets, and the universal cap-off plug.
